Plum Blossom Loves Coconut!

Coconut

We believe in the healing properties of coconuts enough to supply the best coconut oil, milk powder, chips, water, kefir, flour, and Cocochia snack mix (coconut flakes and chia seeds). With the antifungal, anti-candida properties of caprylic acid, the fiber in the coconut flour, and the healing properties of coconut oil (internal and external), you can’t go wrong adding a little (or a lot!) of coconut to your diet. Coconut water is the best re-hydrant in the heat of the summer months and makes amazing Kefir for digestive and immune health. Use our Body Ecology Kefir Starter to make your own, or pick up the bottled Body Ecology Coconut Kefir ready to drink! Coconut oil is great for cooking, baking, and bathing. We carry a special centrifuged coconut oil that you can’t find anywhere else. It is so pure and so condensed, that you will notice the difference after just one use. Mixing coconut chips in cereal, yogurt, or steeping with tea is a delicious and healthy addition!

Tip of the Month
Cleansing for Body, Mind and Spirit
By Celeste Brinson, MSc

Mind Body Spirit

Fall is a time for setting aside the old and integrating the new. While the weather is changing and the heat is subsiding, our bodies begin preparing for the colder months of less activity and energy output. A great way to smooth this transition is to cleanse the body and start the renewal process. A successful cleanse often affects the body, mind, spirit and cleanses at a deep, cellular level within the body. When we remove old cell tissue and built up toxins, memory, and emotion, we open up our bodies to new input and vision. In my experience of personal cleanses and cleanse coaching over the years, shift occurs at many levels for most people and the cleansing process is seen as a gift and an accomplishment. The body rewards us by staying leaner, producing more energy, offering more resistance to illness and allergens and looking more youthful. The mind rewards us with more clarity, better communication with our internal and external environments, and new pathways to explore. The spirit is simply lifted and freer; more abundant.

A cleanse can be anywhere from 1 day of fasting to a month of deep internal cleansing. Depending on the level of toxicity of the organ, certain protocols can be followed to ensure safe and successful cleansing. Plum Blossom offers a variety of internal cleansing systems and cleanse coaching to further the success of your cleanse. We often start with a colon cleanse, as it is the body’s natural detoxifier. Without a clear passage out, toxins will re-circulate within the body and symptoms can occur. Once the colon is clean and free of debris, the body is prepared to allow toxins in the other organs to release. With the help of a coach, you can find the best protocol and timeframe for your cleansing needs. Cleansing will help with fatigue and general health and for those for us with imperfect diets, weight management issues, disease, allergies, and other ailments, cleansing is one of the most effect remedies available. Call Plum Blossom to set up an appointment for a free cleansing consultation.

Recipe of the Month
Coconut Flower Brownies

Coconut Flower Brownies

1 8 oz. box organic cream cheese softened
1/2 cup organic butter (1 stick) softened
1 cup coconut flour
2 T ground Salba seeds
3/4 cup organic sugar (or agave)
4 organic free-range eggs
2 tsp organic vanilla
1/3 cup organic heavy cream
1/3 cup raw cacao powder
1/2 cup walnuts chopped
Plum Blossom Coconut Oil

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Brush sides and bottom of 11x7 pan with coconut oil.

Whip butter, sugar, and cream cheese with electric mixer on high speed until light and fluffy. Add cacao powder and heavy cream; beat well. Add eggs one at a time and whip until the mixture looks like a smooth, creamy, fluffy chocolate pudding. Add flour and vanilla to the chocolate mixture and whip on medium speed and then turn up to high speed and beat until mixture becomes stiff.

Pour chocolate mixture into prepared pan and sprinkle chopped nuts on top, patting gently into batter. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes, or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool completely and enjoy!

TIPS: These brownies taste best a day later so for the best flavor, when cool, cover the top of the pan with aluminum foil and refrigerate overnight. If you want to get a little fancy, melt 2oz of bittersweet chocolate and drizzle over brownies, and/or sprinkle with raw coconut chips.
